Code of Ethics

At the Pig Pen, we follow a strict code of ethics. This code is what makes us stand out from other breeders. We hope this code helps you while you look for the right piglet for your family.

  1. We are honest and direct about the sizes of our pigs. This includes height, length, and weight.
  2. We provide lifetime assistance and support for you and your piglet. We will always be available to you and your piggy to assist with any questions, concerns, or training issues.
  3. We follow all USDA guidelines.
  4. We DO NOT LINE breed (No mixing of same family blood lines; no inbreeding)
  5. Piglets are all fed appropriately for their age and size. We do NOT withhold food from parents or piglets in an attempt to make them smaller.
  6. We vaccinate and worm (which includes no mites) every piglet before they go to their new homes.
  7. We breed for health, size, and temperament. The number one goal is the health of our breeders and their piglets.
  8. We do not do any “back to back” breeding’s. Our mothers are given the break in between litters they deserve. All of our breeders are also our pets. Everyone is named, played with, socialized, and well mannered. We love all of our pigs!
  9. We provide all our pigs with adequate housing, stalls, with clean and comfortable living conditions that are compatible with fluctuating weather conditions.
  10. We work with all our piglets both together and as individuals on socializing.
  11. Our piglets are all vet checked, and if leaving the state they leave with a USDA approved health certificate.
  12. We do not let piglets younger than 8 weeks old go to their new homes. We do this for health reasons as well as to give us enough time to train and go through our socializing process.
  13. We will educate our buyers to the best of our ability on owning, training, and caring for their new piglet.
  14. We screen all homes to the best of our ability to make sure it is a good fit for both the families and piglets.
  15. We do have a contract. We have this in place to protect the buyer, the seller and to protect the piglet.
  16. If for any reason you may no longer be able to care for or keep your piglet, we will always take the piglet back (please refer to contract for further information on these policies) We do require that none of our piglets are re-sold as a breeder, given to a rescue, sanctuary, medical research, for food or any other like facility. We require they be re-homed or sent back to us.
